1980年代，华北某农村。为给哥哥换亲，金香（宋茹惠 饰）被迫嫁给了一个哑巴。小凤（张闽 饰）和来子妈（张文蓉 饰）进城做小买卖途中，遇见偷跑出来的金香，她们一起进了城。初次进城的乡下女人免不了被人骗，三人一合计，干脆座火车到了重庆。初次下海，每人赚到一些钱，金香和小凤总想吃点好的穿点好的，来子妈却一分钱不舍的花，日夜思念家乡的儿子。一个偶然的机会让她们看到商机，她们决定用腈纶线织毛裤销往附近的工地。小凤结识了工地上一小伙（何振军 饰），很快双双坠入爱河。经过一番打拼，每个人手中都有了不少积蓄，她们决定“衣锦还乡”，不知道村里人怎么看她们呢......
